About this measure

This is the adult self-rated version of the DSM-5-TR Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure. It consists of 23 questions covering 13 domains: depression, anger, mania, anxiety, somatic symptoms, suicidal ideation, psychosis, sleep problems, memory, repetitive thoughts and behaviors, dissociation, personality functioning, and substance use.

It is intended to help identify areas that may need more detailed follow-up, not to establish a diagnosis on its own. For most domains, a "mild" rating (2) or higher on any item is the guide for further inquiry; for suicidal ideation, psychosis, and substance use, a "slight" rating (1) or higher is the guide, given the seriousness of even occasional symptoms in those areas.
