About this measure

The ASRM is a 5-item self-rating scale designed to assess the presence and severity of manic symptoms over the past week. It's used as a follow-up when the DSM-5-TR Level 1 Cross-Cutting Symptom Measure flags the mania domain (sleeping less but still having energy, and/or starting more projects or taking more risks than usual).

Scores range from 5 to 25. A score of 6 or higher indicates a high probability of a manic or hypomanic condition and may indicate a need for treatment or further diagnostic workup; a score of 5 or lower is less likely to be associated with significant manic symptoms.
